About this work

Through a dense field of white dots, set against a black background, Dorothy Napangardi has created a kaleidoscopic sea that both gathers and dissolves across the canvas. The subject matter, Karntakurlangu, is one of the most extensive and significant women’s Dreamings belonging to Warlpiri people. Napangardi’s work shows the ceremonial site of origin for Minamina, the artist’s custodial Country that is located in the Tanami Desert, north of Yuendumu in the Northern Territory.
