The NGV comes alive with a variety of talks, live performances, music, and fine food and wine. The program offers music and performance inspired by the life and travels of Dalí, from vibrant Spanish rhythms to early jazz and the wild and flamboyant theatre of Parisian bohemia.
Cost Free. Admission fees apply for Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire and Introductory Talks (6pm). Students receive $11 exhibition entry after 4pm. Last ticket sales at 7.30pm.

With a line up including some of Australia’s finest Latin and jazz musicians, the infectious grooves, fiery solos and rich vocal harmonies from Azucar invoke Dalí’s Spanish heritage. Join us for a swinging salsa lesson from 6.30pm and apply your new dance knowledge in the second set.

- The Greater Illusion: An exploration of philosophy in and through the work of Salvador Dalí

This series of illustrated talks provides an opportunity to explore a broad range of philosophical themes through a response to the work of Dalí. Dalí was preoccupied with many ideas of philosophical interest, and was also influenced by powerful intellectual currents. There will be time in each session for questions and for audience members to engage in a free-flowing philosophical discussion. Presented in partnership with the School of Philosophy, Anthropology and Social Inquiry, The University of Melbourne.

Beijing Opera is a classic art form in China. Apart from the singing and dancing routines, it is famed with exaggerated face make-up and splendid costumes, many being adapted dramatic versions of robes for royals and nobles. Beijing Opera Club of Melbourne, an amateur group of many years standing and well regarded in Melbourne’s Chinese community, will perform selected short arias from the classics.
