Just over a week remains to see this major John Brack retrospective before it leaves Melbourne! The exhibition surveys the artist’s complete oeuvre and incorporates paintings and works on paper from all of his major series, including famous pictures such as The bar 1954 and Collins St., 5 p.m. 1955.

Go beyond your imagination this winter with Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire. This is the first comprehensive retrospective of the work of Salvador Dalí to be staged in Australia. The exhibition traces the genius of Dalí from his earliest years as an exceptionally talented fourteen year old, to the final majestic paintings created when the artist was in his seventies.

Every Wednesday from 17 Jun to 30 Sep, the NGV comes alive with a variety of talks, live performances, music, and fine food and wine. The program offers music and performance inspired by the life and travels of Dalí, from vibrant Spanish rhythms to early jazz and the wild and flamboyant theatre of Parisian bohemia.
Cost Free. Admission fees apply for Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire and Introductory Talks (6pm). Students receive $11 exhibition entry after 4pm. Last ticket sales at 7.30pm.

With a line up including some of Australia’s finest Latin and jazz musicians, the infectious grooves, fiery solos and rich vocal harmonies from Azucar invoke Dalí’s Spanish heritage. Join us for a swinging salsa lesson from 6.30pm and apply your new dance knowledge in the second set.

The contemporary body is continually configured by its presence in the city. Perception and bodily presence form part of the urban experience. How within that context is the Museum to be understood? How moreover is the experience of art to take place?
