Land Marks

Free entry

The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, Fed Square

9 Feb 06 – 11 Jul 06

Land Marks celebrates important moments in the history of Indigenous Australian art and acknowledges the visionary artists who have inspired the community through painting and sculpture in ritual contexts, the pioneering of new art forms, and as warriors for social justice. The exhibition explores the continuity, re-invention and transformation of the world’s oldest living art tradition.

A strong part of Land Marks is the work produced in the past decade by artists such as Brook Andrew, Paddy Bedford, Julie Dowling, Clinton Nain, Samuel Namunjdja, Walangkura Napanangka and Judy Watson – all artists at the forefront of contemporary practice in Australia.
