2004 Melbourne Fringe Festival presents Shelter – a high profile, public art event that provides a response to the issues of home and homelessness through artistic and innovative design that is compelling, impressive and thought provoking.

Shelter is a collaboration between leading architect Sean Godsell, The Artful Dodgers Studio, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and Melbourne Fringe.

In this large-scale exhibition built upon the wisdom and experience of established Melbourne artists and marginalised young and elderly people, Shelter will surprise you with it’s response to ideas of ‘home’ and what it represents to those living on the fringe of society.

With components of the artwork changing throughout the exhibition, Shelter combines design, digital media and photography in an unmistakable structure. Located outside the waterwall on the NGV International forecourt on St Kilda Road, the artwork is viewable day or night, regardless of Gallery hours.
