Temporary Exhibition (Gallery 18), Level 3

14 Mar 03 – 9 Jun 03

Susan Cohn has an international reputation as one of the foremost artists working in the fields of jewellery and metalwork. This exhibition has been organised by the National Gallery of Australia  and surveys 20 years of her art practice. The exhibition includes early jewellery pieces, a major representation of her bracelets and two recent sculptural/installation works.

In Cohn’s hands, craft is made modern with the infusion of technology. Some of the most persistent influences on Cohn’s work are new technologies, especially electronic, digital and medical; the rituals and emblems of street and youth culture, as well as futuristic visions of cyberspace.

Techno craft: the work of Susan Cohn 1980 to 2000 is a National Gallery of Australia Travelling Exhibition.
