world rush_4 artists brings together four exceptional works by four international artists, Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Doug Aitken, Lee Bul and Sarah Sze, that chart the shifts in contemporary art that swept across the globe at the start of the 21st Century.

Eija-Liisa Ahtila, who lives in Helsinki, creates split-narrative, short films in which her young female characters’ fantasies blur into a portrait of shifting time.

Los Angeles artist Doug Aitken shows an environmental, multiscreen projection that is an elliptical journey through ghostly urban landscapes.

Lee Bul, who was born in Korea but now lives between New York and Seoul, produces floating, iridescent creatures that hover in darkness.

New Yorker Sarah Sze makes her intricate, soaring assemblage from brightly coloured plastic, clamps, household objects and light fittings.

Eija-Liisa Ahtila, Doug Aitken, Lee Bul and Sarah Sze transform uncannily familiar impulses from mid-20th Century modernist art while creating models of conceptually unbounded, imaginary worlds. Together, their reconfigured landscapes delineate the new shape of 21st Century art.
