The Victorian Foundation for Living Australian Artists (VFLAA) purchases significant contemporary visual artworks by Australian artists for the NGV Collection and for touring and lending to the network of regional and metropolitan galleries of Victoria.
The Victorian Foundation for Living Australian Artists (VFLAA) was established in 2002, following the provision of funds from the Victorian Government, matched by the National Gallery of Victoria, to enable the NGV to purchase contemporary art from living Australian artists for the State collection. The Foundation collects works in all media, by artists from across generations and a broad range of social and cultural backgrounds with the aim of supporting the Australian visual arts sector. These works are displayed at the NGV and made available to regional and outer-suburban public galleries through exhibition tours and loans.
The foundation is managed by the NGV with regional representation on the VFLAA committee of two PGAV gallery directors appointed by the Minister for Creative Industries. The VFLAA committee meets on a quarterly basis.
The VFLAA is generously supported by Creative Victoria.
