About this work

Brendan Huntley’s childhood was spent in the family workshop playing with pottery clay, and the medium subsequently became an integral component of his practice. He completed studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2003, and since then has exhibited his unique earthenware objects throughout Melbourne and Australia.

Each grinning bust is a unique, handcrafted object shaped into being through a complex process of experimentation and development. These quirky figures’ gleeful experimentation with pattern, colour and texture reveal Huntley’s delight in the medium.
