Physical description
A two tier, knee-length overskirt is made of olive cotton canvas. The skirt gathers onto a 5cm external waistband. The first tier of the skirt is 34cm deep and the second tier is 29cm deep. A knitted trim in brown mottled colours has been folded inserted into the construction seam. The folded edge of the trim is inserted to the inside with the unfinished edges curling on the right side of the skirt. The second tier of the skirt is screen-printed in brown with a repeat pattern of figures and flowering trees. Rust and ochre machine embroidery on every second tree highlights one or two of the flowers. Waistband is cut in two pieces; the top waistband extends at the side with ties approximately 30.0cm long. The waistband is shaped into curve at the tie. A long flat rust-coloured shoe-lace has been inserted through the internal waistband, working as a drawstring. The skirt is open down the side. The skirt is unlined and 2.5cm hem has been folded to the right side and finished with a machine stitch. Internally, exposed raw edges have been hand overcast.
