printed in ink on support reverse c.: VIEWS OF VICTORIA. / (GENERAL SERIES.) / No. 40. / SCENE IN THE CARLTON GARDENS. / The Carlton Gardens are not so extensive as most of the other public gardens around Melbourne, and, being / laid out on a flat piece of ground, have not the advantage of possessing much that is romantic in its scenery. / The subject of this issue is the only interesting spot within the enclosure, which is the Rustic Fountain, surrounded / by a small Lake of water, on the banks of which grow some very beautiful specimens of the hanging willow. These / Gardens are open to the public at all times.
