inscribed in pencil l.l.: Frank Short [NOTES: Hardie records the inscription as 'Petts Pier', while Strange records it as 'Pells Pier'. I believe it is 'Potts Pier', as there is an old pier on Branksey (Branksea) Island called Potters Pier that has the outlook described by Hardie.]
