Young girl was acquired in 1986 with this frame, which can safely be regarded as the early presentation of the painting.
The frame is made from a flat timber section with compound mitres at the corners pushing the form into a bevel, sloping in to the picture plane. Like other frames from the 1930’s the surface is painted.
The joinery of these frames seldom stops the mitres from opening over time with handling and the movement of the timber.
