Physical description
Crewel work embroidery on linen in a design of bunches of flowers on a white field and with a formal running border repeating the floral motif between and under a zig-zag of formalised leaves. Fine crewel wools in blues, greens, reds, and yellow are used with the centres of the flowers in silks. Predominant colour is indigo blue. Stitches used are satin, stem, chain and laid stitch.The design has been drawn on by hand. Embroidery on two joined vertical lengths of linen. Part of an incomplete set of embroidered panels. Embroidery stitches: satin, stem, chain and laid stitch.
