Physical description
Day dress of cream silk taffeta with an ikat design of flower springs in apricot, mauve, blue and green, comprising skirt, bodice and belt. (a) The bodice has a high collar and a silk tulle inset into a square neckline. Bodice and sleeves are trimmed with ruffles and bright blue satin ribbon, and 7 blue chenille tassels finished with black jet beads. Bodice is boned and fastens down centre front with ten hooks and embroidered eyelets, and is lined with cotton. (b) Matching skirt is made from 9 gores and has a slight train. There is a ruffle along the hemline, edged in blue ribbon. Hem edge is lined with bright blue velvet ribbon. Skirt is gathered at back waist for the bustle. (c) Belt with peplum in matching fabric with fringe trim.
