Physical description
A hot pink and white wool plaid double breasted coat, mid length, with an A-line skirt and two piece set-in sleeves. The top and under collar are shaped from one piece of folded fabric cut on the cross and shaped under the iron to roll around the neckline. There is no seam on the outside edge of the top and under collar. Fastening with two 3cm plastic buttons at the neckline and two small concealed hook and eye and larger silk covered press-stud. The keyhole buttons holes are hand worked. Two decorative pocket flaps are cut and inserted diagonally on the high hip into the construction of the side/underarm panel, without breaking the plaid stripes. The skirt of the coat is cut with an extra wide A-line. The shape and the details of the coat are reinforced by top stitch detail executed 3cm away from the construction seam. Lined in pink silk, the hem has turned back with a piece of pink linen facing for flatness of finish. The plaid weave features a darker purple band, the effect is subtle but the placement has been considered with one stripe running across the front bust and the other across the back hem.
