National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne The Schofield Collection. Purchased with the assistance of a special grant from the Government of Victoria, 1974
Cap is constructed of bands of cream silk, alternating with section of cream insertion lace with floral design. The cap would have been drawn in at the base of crown with ribbon drawstring (most of this is damaged and lost). The cap is finished with a ruffled band of two sections of insertion lace joined together, with triangular tabs on either side, and decorated beneath the ruffle edge by two rosettes in narrow cream ribbon with horseshoe design.
