Physical description
Green silk cape with hood and collar with pink silk lining. Finished with black velvet piping, quilting, and pink silk taffeta ribbon ties at the neckline and on the hood. The three-quarter length cape has two quilted and piped welts on third of the way down the side front concealing the openings for the arms. A wide collar with rounded corners also quilted and piped, and a voluminous hood are attached to neckline. The cape fastens with pink taffeta ribbon that draws thought the neckline and ties at the centre front. The finished edge of the hood is also piped with black velvet, the volume of the hood is draw to create a blouson effect around the face with a pink taffeta ribbon. The hood is created from a rectangular length of fabric part of the length joined with a straight seam and fastened to the neckline with 6 deep pleats. At the centre back of the hood where the straight seam finishes the remaining length has been arranged into a circular array of pleats held into place by stitches in silk floss. The cape is open through the centre front which is finished with quilting and piping that continues around the entire hemline. Two small quilted pockets of pink silk are fastened to the inside edges. Cut in seven panels the fullness of the cape is also pleated into the back neckline. Two small quilted pockets of pink silk are fastened to the inside edges. The cape has been constructed with an interlining - probably wool.
