About this work

During the Song dynasty (960–1279), the finest green glazed stoneware was produced at Longquan in Zhejiang Province. Luminescent green celadon ware was created by firing iron oxide in a kiln with a reduced (oxygen-poor) atmosphere. Its unique colour, similar to that of jade, made this ware popular in the domestic market and the export trade to other parts of Asia and the Middle East.

Physical description
