Physical description
The Gloriosa superba with its three fiery orange-to-yellow flowers is a splendid rendering of this member of the lily family which is native to Africa. This superbly composed sheet clearly captures the delicate yet tensile character of the plant whose unusual scrambling habit is supported by the curling tips of its leaves, all features clearly displayed in the drawing.
