Physical description
Depicts a solitary gum tree, whose knotted and twisted branches form a web of lines across the picture plane. Paint is applied generously and frequently and scratched onto the surface to successfully convey the tangled scrub of the Australian bush. Four figures lean against the rails of a bridge that is partially submerged in the background.
