Your fame was known to us long before your present / appointment, and we heartily welcome and congratulate you upon your / safe arrival to fill the high and arduous office you have undertaken. / We confidently hope that your powerful aid in the divine art to / which we are devoted will be of lasting benefit to our colony, / and we trust that your brief sojourn in the Sunny South may / be filled with pleasure, and that in after years your association / with us may be a pleasing reminiscence of happy days spent / in Australia.
