The Strasbourg lily watermark shows a shield with a fleur-de-lis surmounted by a crown. There are many variants of the Strasbourg lily motif used by papermakers in Strasbourg, and some variants have also been connected to South-West France from the mid-17th century onward.
Watermark and variant description
Strasbourg lily E'.a.b. Fleur-de-lis on a crowned shield. The central petal rounded. View into the bottom of the crown . The shield with straight sides, a flat top, and singles horns in the crown. Chain line through the centre of the watermark, the initials PR, double-wired, below. The countermark is WK'.a.
