Physical description
Rust brown spotted silk day dress with applied fringing comprised of separate bodice and skirt sections. The long-line bodice is constructed from several seamed panel sections tailored to produce a slim fit, and has boning, sloped shoulders, a high neckline and fastens down centre front with a series of buttons and metal hooks. Same buttons also decorate the sleeve cuffs and square back decorative ‘patch-pockets’. Below proper left breast is a small coin pocket, while at centre front waist and hemline are two large fabric bows. Applied silk fringing on the hemline. The bodice is fully lined in cream cotton calico. The accompanying skirt comprises several large panels gathered to the waistband and falls with greater fullness at rear. The front panel features fabric bows and two rows of fringing at hemline and two rows of ruffles.
