About this work

Roman Vishniac’s photographs of Jewish communities in Eastern Europe are tragically prophetic. Working between 1935 and 1939, Vishniac used concealed cameras to take thousands of photographs of life in the ghettoes of Russia, Poland, Romania, Czechoslovakia and Lithuania.
