About this work

Made of fine silk chiffon, the draped and layered Titania exemplifies a fluid and sensual aspect of Jackson’s work. One of a group of Grecian-inspired dresses shown at the 1975 Flamingo Follies parade, this work also pays homage to the finely draped styles of mid-twentieth century, in particular the work of Parisian couturier Madame Grès. One of the highlights for Jackson and Kee on their trip to Paris in 1977 was an introduction to Madame Grès, who by that time was in her seventies.
