Physical description
This bowl decorated with a myriad of coloured enamels and gold gilt, depicts a huge botanical variety of chrysanthemums (the celebrated flower of autumn and imperial flower of Japan) on its exterior and thousands of tiny butterflies on the interior. The complexity of design and decoration are a fine example of the tastes for which such pieces were produced and the highly developed skills of the artists who produced them. The artist’s signature, Seikozan is painted on the underside of the base.
