Published by Lucien Vogel from 1913 to 1925, Gazette du Bon Ton was one of the most renowned, and expensive, luxury fashion publications of the early twentieth century. It held exclusive contracts with leading couture houses including Paquin, Poiret and Worth, and each edition of the journal contained ten lithographic prints, often designed by prominent fashion illustrators such as Georges Lepape and George Barbier. These illustrations were often exquisitely coloured using the pochoir (stencil) printing method. Due to the collectible nature of the pochoir prints, intact issues of the journal are extremely rare and valuable for research purposes.
