The 2021 International Audience Engagement Network Guidelines introduce a new framework for audience and museum wellness, supported by checklists, success measures, evaluation tools and other templates for museums interested in identifying their impact in the community and finding ways to gather and use meaningful audience data.
The 2021 guidelines were developed through the 2019 International Audience Engagement Network Meeting at the National Gallery Singapore, facilitated by the IAE Network Steering Group and Project Partner Accenture.

The 2018 guidelines introduced a universal value statement and definition for audience engagement, to support museums to define and advocate audience-led planning. The guidelines also feature seven top-line recommendations for engaging audiences and identify two priority areas of museum practice: Inclusion and Engagement; and The Audience Experience.
The 2018 guidelines were developed as an outcome of the inaugural IAE Network meeting in March 2018, hosted by the National Gallery of Victoria and co-designed by the IAE steering group and project partner Ernst and Young.
