Married to Joanna of Castile.

Known as ‘Philip the Handsome’ or ‘Philip the Fair’, Philip I was born in Bruges and was the son of Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor. Upon marrying Joanna of Castile in 1496, he became the King of Castile and the first member of the Austrian Habsburg family to rule in Spain. He was also brother-in-law to King Henry VIII of England. Before inheriting the Holy Roman Empire, Philip I died suddenly of typhoid.
