Encounter the sacred through art at the National Gallery of Victoria. Develop a deeper appreciation of the Judeo-Christian and Catholic traditions by unpacking stories, ideas, signs, and symbols in artworks and exploring how these connect to past and contemporary contexts. Gain practical strategies and skills for using artworks and artmaking to support inquiry and learning.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyse, interpret and discuss artworks.
  • Understand the symbols, signs, messages, and meanings of artworks to gain a deeper understanding of the Judeo-Christian and Catholic traditions.
  • Understand how to use the NGV as a resource for Religious Education.
  • Reflect on the experience through art making and discussion to identify practical strategies for teaching and learning in the classroom and beyond.

    Please note we require four weeks’ notice for all bookings. Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit and full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.
