Discover how ideas and themes are presented in a major NGV exhibition. In this educator-led presentation for students of VCE Art Making and Exhibiting, analyse and discuss some of the curatorial considerations, exhibition design, and conservation methods involved in preparing and presenting Yayoi Kusama. Explore exhibition characteristics and themes, and strategies used to prepare and display key artworks in this blockbuster exhibition.

This program will be delivered in the Learn theatre or studio spaces and includes self-guided entry into the exhibition

This program aligns with VCE Art Making and Exhibiting Learning Outcomes:

Unit 2: Understand, develop and resolve, Area of Study 1, Outcome 1
Unit 3: Collect, extend and connect, Area of Study 3, Outcome 3
Unit 4: Consolidate, present and conserve, Area of Study 3, Outcome 3

Students will:

  • Identity and discuss the curatorial considerations and thematic connections between artworks in Yayoi Kusama
  • Discuss and analyse the presentation of artworks in the exhibition
  • Investigate, identify and evaluate the methods used and considerations involved in the presentation, conservation and care of specific artworks

Duration: 45 minutes plus self-guided time in the exhibition
Cost: $24.50 per student

    Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

    Students must be supervised at all times by a teacher or adult. We request:
    • At least one teacher/adult for every 20 students for students in Year 2 or above.
    • At least one teacher/adult for every 15 students for K to Year 1 students.

    We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.
