Outreach Incursion | Magical Masks

Mon-Fri

Levels F-6

Let NGV come to you! Our educator-led incursions fit into your schedule and offer students and teachers who may not be able to visit the Gallery opportunities to connect with the NGV Collection from your own classroom or art room.

With Magical Masks, explore international cultures and art making traditions. All over the world, people make and wear masks for all kinds of reasons, including celebrations, ceremonies, performances and for fun! Taking inspiration from some of the masks in the NGV Collection, discover how masks are used to represent unique characteristics and ideas before creating a decorative, expressive mask of your very own.

Each program includes:

  • The delivery of two 75-minute workshops, for up to 30 students per session
  • All necessary art materials
  • Facilitation by an NGV Educator, with the support of an NGV Learn Program Assistant

NGV outreach incursions are available on-demand to schools within a 60km radius of Melbourne. For schools beyond this range, please reach out to us at education.bookings@ngv.vic.gov.au to explore possibilities.
