Explore ideas, meanings and messages in artworks through applying the three Interpretive Lenses: Structural, Personal and Cultural. Join an NGV educator to discuss, analyse and interpret original works and objects from the NGV Collection.

Duration: 1 hour

Cost: $10.5 per student

Learning Objectives

  • Apply the Structural, the Personal and the Cultural lens to the analysis and interpretation of the ideas, meanings and messages of artworks from different times and cultures.
  • Substantiate interpretations of artworks with evidence taken from the artworks themselves and with reference to a range of sources.
  • Consider the ways artists use visual language to communicate ideas and meanings in their artwork

    We require four weeks notice for all bookings.

    Changes to your booking must be made in writing. Changes can be made up to 14 days prior to your visit. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments.

    Please provide details of any relevant themes and skills your students are learning about at school. While we cannot offer individually tailored programs, our museum educators will consider this information when selecting and discussing works of art during the program.
