Discover how ideas and themes are presented in an NGV exhibition. In this educator-led tour for VCE Art Making and Exhibiting students, analyse and discuss some of the curatorial considerations, exhibition design ethos, and conservation methods involved in preparing and presenting Martin Grant. This program will focus on a range of materials including works on paper, and garments using a variety of fabrics.  

This program aligns with VCE Art Making and Exhibiting Learning Outcomes:
Unit 2: Understand, develop and resolve, Area of Study 1, Outcome 1
Unit 3: Collect, extend and connect, Area of Study 3, Outcome 3
Unit 4: Consolidate, present and conserve, Area of Study 3, Outcome 3 

Students will: 

  • Identify and discuss the curatorial considerations in Martin Grant 
  • Analyse and interpret the exhibition’s design and presentation of artworks.  
  • Investigate, identify and evaluate the methods used and considerations involved in the presentation, conservation and care of specific artworks. 

Duration: 1 hour

Please provide details of any relevant themes and skills your students are learning about at school. While we cannot offer individually tailored programs, our museum educators will consider this information when selecting and discussing works of art during the program.

Date Selection

We recommend you provide three date options for your program to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate your first preference, however due to high demand this may not always be possible.

Terms and Conditions

We do not take tentative bookings. Bookings are considered firm at time of booking. Any amendments, including changes to participant numbers, must be made by email at least 14 days prior to the program. Invoices will be sent prior to the visit. Full program fees will be incurred for late cancellations or amendments. Payment must be paid at least one week prior to the visit.
