Visual Perception | VCE Psychology & VCE Visual Communication Design

Mon–Fri, 10 am, 11.30 am, 1 pm & 2.30 pm
Levels VCE
NGV International & The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia

Explore how artists use and manipulate the principles of visual perception through a focus on works of art from the NGV Collection. Join an NGV Educator to identify and describe critical elements of visual perception such as Gestalt principles, pictorial depth cues and optical illusions. Students will examine techniques used to create depth, distance and spatial relationships in works of art, and how they inform our perceptions.

Students will:

  • Understand and describe principles of visual perception, including pictorial depth cues and gestalt principles.
  • Identify and analyse how the principles of visual perception apply to a range of works of art and design.

This program is suitable for VCE Psychology and VCE Visual Communication Design (2024)
