NGV School Support | Free and Subsidised Programs
It is a priority of the NGV to break down the barriers that make it challenging for some schools to visit the NGV and participate in our learning programs.
Through our generous supporters, the NGV offers schools who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in Gallery programs, free access to NGV exhibitions and learning programs, free or subsidised transport, and learning resources.
We recognise that many factors can make it challenging for schools to visit the Gallery. They can include, but are not limited to, socio-economic circumstances, distance, and limited access to art programs or resources in school. When assessing applications for NGV School Support we will take multiple factors into consideration.
Once we have received your expression of interest, we will assess your school’s eligibility. We aim to inform you of the outcome of your application within 3 weeks. If you would like any further information or have any questions, contact the NGV School Support team by email.
Through the generous support of Learning Patron, Krystyna Campbell-Pretty AM and Family, this program has a focus on reaching students at senior secondary school level, especially those at risk of leaving school or formal learning, as well as primary and secondary school aged students from regional, remote or isolated communities, and young people with additional needs.
This program provides participating schools with:
- Access to a major NGV exhibition and a related NGV educator-led learning program.
- Subsidised transport to and from the NGV.
- NGV Publications for school library.

Sandhurst Retail & Logistics School Support ProgramThrough the generous support of Sandhurst Retail & Logistics this program provides students from eligible schools in the Casey, Hume, Whittlesea and Greater Geelong areas of Victoria with free access to NGV Learning experiences at no cost. This program provides participating schools with:
- NGV educator-led programs based on the NGV Collection
- Free or subsidised travel to and from the NGV
- Professional learning programs for teachers
- Outreach workshops delivered in schools by NGV Educators

NGV Connect ProgramThrough the generous support of the Department of Education, the Victorian Catholic Education Authority, and the Italian Australian Foundation, the NGV provides eligible schools with:
- Free or subsidised access to NGV educator-led learning programs including onsite excursions and outreach incursions
- Transport subsidies for eligible schools
This program focuses on students of all levels and schools experiencing disadvantage. We will take multiple factors into consideration when assessing applications.
