What can art teach us about Australian history? Traverse Australia’s past from first contact to Federation. This virtual program brings history to life through visual analysis and storytelling, and explores Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives on historical events and themes that helped shape our nation.
This program will be facilitated by an NGV Educator.

- Analyse and interpret themes, concepts and ideas in Australian artworks and cultural artefacts
- Discuss the impact of colonisation on the First Australians and the environment
- Identify the reasons for immigration and discuss its impact on Australian identity
- Compare and contrast the experiences of colonial and Indigenous Australians depicted in artworks from various times and cultural contexts
