Born 1948, Frankston, Victoria; lives and works in Melbourne. Rick Amor has held more than fifty solo exhibitions since first exhibiting at Joseph Brown Gallery, Melbourne, in 1974 and has shown annually at Niagara Galleries, Melbourne, since 1983. A comprehensive survey show of Amor’s paintings, Standing in the Shadows, was exhibited by McClelland Sculpture Park + Gallery, Melbourne, in 2005, and in 2008 A Single Mind, a survey show of his paintings and drawings, was held at Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne. Amor was the subject of a major monograph, Rick Amor (2008), and a biography, The Solitary Watcher: Rick Amor and His Art (2001). He was appointed as Official War Artist to East Timor by the Australian War Memorial in 1999.
