Born 1936, Melbourne, Victoria; lives and works in Melbourne. Brian Birch is a descendant of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of Melbourne. In 2006 Birch attended Koori art classes at NMIT, Melbourne, and exhibited his work at the Koorie Heritage Trust, where he was the recipient of the NGV Acquisitive Prize. He won the People’s Choice award at Back Up Traders, Art Sydney Rd, Melbourne, 2008, and regularly exhibits in the Victorian Indigenous Art Awards.
