Born 1971, Wellington, New Zealand; lives and works in Melbourne. Jake Walker completed studies at the Whitirea Art School, Wellington, in 1989, and at the Otago School of Fine Art, Dunedin, in 1991. Between 1996 and 2000 he lived and worked in the United Kingdom, United States and Germany. Walker has exhibited widely throughout Australia and New Zealand. Recent solo exhibitions include Have a Go, 2009, and Paintings, 2011, both Gallery 9, Sydney; Owner Builder, Utopian Slumps, Melbourne, 2011; and Painting and Relief, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne, 2012. In 2010 he won the inaugural Arkley Award at NOTFAIR, Melbourne, and his work was highly commended in the RBS Emerging Artist Award.
