Kate Smith

Born 1980, Cootamundra, New South Wales; lives and works in Melbourne. Kate Smith completed a Bachelor of Arts at the Australian National University School of Art, Canberra, in 2005. In the same year she was the recipient of the Peter Fay Graduate Award. Between 2010 and 2011 she held a studio residency at Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne, and in 2011 at Artspace, Sydney. Selected solo exhibitions include Teenage Boi Boi Sounds, Sutton Gallery, Melbourne, 2011; Dumb Sampler, Studio 12, Gertrude Contemporary, Melbourne, 2011; Gesturing to the Chilli, db, Sydney, 2011; Minnie the Moocher, in collaboration with Alex Vivian, The West Wing, Melbourne, 2011; and Deep Privacy/Convex, Sutton Gallery, 2012. Recent group exhibitions include Collage: The Heide Collection, Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne, 2013; Like Mike, Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts, Melbourne, 2013; and Regimes of Value, Margaret Lawrence Gallery, Melbourne, and The Substation, Melbourne, 2013.
