Artist statement on I Don't See God Up Here (2010):
“I have always thought of good architecture as authoring people through space: that architects design buildings encoded with a set of instructions to guide us through them, usually without knowing we are being led. Taking this idea to its logical conclusion a two year old should be able to navigate through these spaces, and like all space explorers, they should be wearing a spacesuit.
Apparently Yuri Gagarin’s first words in space were ‘I don’t see God up here’. Even if this is myth, it’s a great way to think about space and spaces.”
