Ronnie Van Hout

Born 1962, Christchurch, New Zealand; lives and works in Melbourne. Ronnie van Hout studied film at the School of Fine Arts, Canterbury University, Christchurch, from 1980 to 1982, and after moving to Melbourne in the 1990s graduated with a Master of Fine Art from RMIT University in 1999. Solo exhibitions include I’ve Abandoned Me, which toured major public institutions throughout New Zealand in 2003–05; Uncured, Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, 2010; and The Leavings, Darren Knight Gallery, Sydney, 2012. Significant group exhibitions include Toi Toi Toi: Three Generations of Artists From New Zealand, Kassel, Germany 1999; Unnerved: The New Zealand Project, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, 2010, and National Gallery of Victoria, 2010–11; and Daydream Believer!!, Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, Tokyo, 2011.
