One-time housemates in a much-loved (if run-down) sharehouse in Hotham Street, Collingwood, Cassandra Chilton, Molly O’Shaughnessy, Sarah Parkes, Caroline Price and Lyndal Walker have made the experience live on through their collective known as Hotham Street Ladies, which explores themes of home life, feminism, craft and collaboration in a manner both humourous and critical. Food is a constant presence in their work – including controversial cake entries in the Royal Melbourne Show – and their Melbourne Now installation transforms the foyer of the NGVA into an ice-bombed wonderland.
