A descendent of the Meriam Mer and G’ua G’ua peoples, Clinton Nain’s work, Chicken feed, was inspired by a political speech given in 1937 by Pastor Sir Douglas Nicholls, an Aboriginal political activist who defiantly stated: ‘We soar like eagles and they feed us like chickens’. Nain’s work rails against the oppression, containment and unacceptable hardship, which Aboriginal people have experienced as a result of colonisation.
