Phuong Ngo
Phuong Ngo’s artwork investigates his personal identity as the son of Vietnamese refugees, and his collective identity as a member of the twentieth-century Vietnamese diaspora. For Melbourne Now, Ngo is exhibiting an extensive selection of 35mm slides displayed in custom-built lightbox tables that form part of The Vietnam Archive Project, thousands of images and objects collected by the artist since 2010. Predominately relating to the Vietnam War, the slides on display offer a vivid and intimate experience and ask us to consider the impact and legacies of an event that profoundly changed the lives of millions.
