Born in Melbourne in 1960, Polixeni Papapetrou began photographing in the 1980s exploring, from the outset, an interest in role-play, costumes and fantasy. Her work for Melbourne Now comprises three photographs from the series The Ghillies. Papapetrou customarily works with her children as models – here they are clothed in the extreme camouflage costumes used by the military.
