Georgina Cue’s installation practice encompasses embroidery, woodcarving and set design. The Aleph is an installation of embroidery on tapestry canvas that uses trompe-l’oeil to create a sense of entering a room. This anamorphic work is from a series exploring early twentieth-century police photographs of New York crime scenes, in which the artist explores how mystery and drama imbue everyday objects – the body may have been removed, but the space resonates with the memory of the event.
