Melbourne Now Excursions by the Office for Good Design

Inside the NGV

Have you experienced every corner of our creative city? Perhaps daily routines and habits sometimes blinker you from seeing and experiencing new things. Or the rise of online reviews and reports of cultural happenings make it impossible for you to discover your own evolving city.

The Office for Good Design, a collective that highlights the value of design & creativity, has created a series of free Melbourne Now excursions that will provide a unique view of the city through the eyes of some of Melbourne’s most creative people.

Highlights include sampling the city on free and unusual walking tours led by inspiring designers, architects and artists who will share their Melbourne with you. Discover what makes the city tick for them, and what charges their inspiration. Tour leaders include the team from the thinking guide to small living, Assemble Papers; multi-tasking, multi-talented design collective, SIBLING; and ambidextrous designer, Annie Wu.

You can also join in a mass outdoor drawing workshop with Every Building on Collins Street. Inspired by Australian illustrator James Gulliver Hancock’s project to draw every building in New York, we tackle Collins Street, one of Melbourne’s most iconic boulevards. You are invited to a free session where you will enjoy drawing tips from the man with his ear tuned to Melbourne, illustrator and cartoonist, Oslo Davis. Oslo will be joined by a historian and leading local architects who will each help set the scene by exploring the story and development of Collins Street. Participants will then take to the street to start drawing! Participants of all ages and with all levels of experience are encouraged.
